Vanessa Hudgens has starred in television shows such as Still Standing, Cover Me, and then did her first movie, Thunderbirds, in 2004. Her big break came when she starred in High School Musical, a Disney movie which was released in 2006, where she is cast as Gabriella Montez. The film catapulted her into fame not just in America, but worldwide. She has since then been considered a household name in America. Vanessa Hudgens and costar Zak Efron won the 2006 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Chemistry. She has also been nominated an Imagen Award for Best Actress in a Television, a Teen Choice Award Choice Breakout Star, and a Young Artist Award for the category of Best Performance in a TV Movie, Miniseries or Special (Comedy or Drama) Leading Young Actress, all for her performances on High School Musical.
She also stars in the sequel, High School Musical 2. Vanessa Hudgens also sings for the shows soundtrack, and released her album, V, in 2006. The songs in her album are a mix of pop rock, dance, and ballads. Her album debuted number 24 on the US Billboard chart, and sold over 34,000 copies during the first week of the release. She is under the Hollywood Label. The soundtrack to both High School Musical and its sequel proved to be hits. With all her success from the films, she has been one of Forbes Magazines top earning stars under the age of 21.
ABC has used her songs Lets Go and Lets Dance for commercials of Desperate Housewives and Dancing with the Stars. She has proven herself multitalented, being able to sing, act and dance, and well in all of those aspects. Vanessa Hudgens is currently a spokes model for Neutrogena. The actress also says that once she finishes high school, she would like to take up business in college.
