Teri Polo was born in Delaware on August 29, 1969. Her mother Jane is a homemaker, while her father Vincent is a designer of stereo systems. She has two brothers, Michael and Steven. She studied at the Dover High School in her hometown of Dover, Delaware. Teri Polo was also an avid ballet dancer, and studied at the School of American Ballet in New York when she was thirteen years old. When she was 17, she signed a contract with the Petite Modeling Agency. She won a modeling contest which got her to move to New York so she could pursue acting.

Some of Teri Polo’s early acting work includes a role in the daytime drama, Loving; as well as a role in TV 101. in 1991, she landed her first movie, Mystery Date, where she was cast with Ethan Hawke. Her role in the movie helped secure more acting jobs, and her ballet training has made her a very graceful and confident actress onscreen. After Mystery Date, she starred in Passed Away, the ski drama Aspen Extreme, The House of the Spirits, Quick, The Arrival, and House of Frankenstein. In 1994 she was cast as a regular for the television series Northern Exposure.

Other television shows that Teri Polo has appeared in include Felicity, The Practice, Chicago Hope, Frasier, and Sports Night. She was also cast for two seasons of The West Wing. Her breakthrough movie and claim to fame was Meet the Parents in 2000, and the sequel, Meet the Fockers. She was cast as Pam Byrnes, the love interest of Ben Stiller who has to go through great heights to receive the approval of Pam’s tough dad, played by Robert De Niro. Both films were a success at the box office, and they catapulted Teri Polo into official celebrity status. She was nominated a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the category of Favorite Female Newcomer for Meet the Parents.

More recently, Teri Polo has returned to television roles, starring in the sitcom, I’m With Her. She has also posed nude for the February 2005 issue of Playboy, and Maxim magazine has labeled her number 42 in their Hot 100 of 2002 list. She married Anthony Moore, a photographer, in 1997, although divorced in 2003. They have one son, named Griffin. In 2004, Teri Polo met Jamie Wollam, whom she is currently expecting a child with. She has proven herself as an actress to watch out for.
