After graduation, she started out with small roles, as an extra, and stand ins. Susan Luccis big break came in 1970, when she auditioned for the role of Erica Kane in All My Children, and got the part. Although her part was claimed by many critics to be one of the greatest roles written for women on daytime television, Susan Lucci was nominated 18 times for an Emmy until she finally got one in 1999 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Other awards she won were for the 2005 Gracie Allen Awards in the Outstanding Female Lead in a Daytime Drama and, the 2005 Made In New York Award, and the 1991 Peoples Choice Awards for Favorite Female Television Daytime Performer.
Susan Lucci then starred in Dallas, a nighttime soap, and in television movies such as Lifetimes Ebbie, Seduced and Betrayed, and Blood on Her Hands, among others. She also starred in the Broadway show, Annie Get Your Gun. Susan Lucci also dabbled in business, and in 1991 she started the Susan Lucci Collection of various hair care products. She also has other makeup and skincare products that are being sold on the Home Shopping Network. She also has two perfumes to her name: Susan Lucci Invitation, and La Lucci.
Susan Lucci has been married to Helmut Huber, an Austrian businessman, since 1969. They have two daughters, Andrea and Liza Huber. Daughter Liza gave her mother her first grandchild on her 60th birthday, giving birth to son Royce Alexander. She has also followed her mothers footsteps in acting, as she stars in the soap Passions. VH-1 gave her a place the prestigious 200 Icons of All Time list. In 2005, she was given a place in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
