Born on July 10, 1972, Sofia Margarita Vergara was born in Barranquilla, Atlantico. It is also where she grew up. Her father worked in a business and her mother is a homemaker. Because she is in a well-off family, she attended a private bilingual school. This hot Colombian model and actress was given the name La Toti by her brothers, sisters and cousins. She got married when she was 18 and gave birth a year after to a son named Manolo. Her marriage did not last long.

The sexy Sofia Vergara was discovered by a photographer in Colombia while she was walking at a beach.
While still in Columbia, she took up dentistry. Because of the absence of her father, she had to drop out of college to support not only her son but her mother and siblings as well. She then moved to Bogota where she worked as a model. She has also done a good job as a host and then later on, she found herself in the Hollywood film Big Trouble in 2002. She was part of the cast of the film Chasing Papi (2003) alongside Roselyn Sanchez and Jaci Velasquez. The movie is about an executive of the cosmetic industry who has three sexy Latinas as his girlfriend. Sofia Vergara played the role of a waitress named Cici who was one of the Latina girlfriends of Thomas Fuentes (played by Eduardo Verastegui).

She also starred Four Brothers (2005) and Lords of Dogtown (2005). In 2006, she starred alongside Ray Romano and Kevin James in the comedy Grilled. In the year 2007, she has appeared in many television series such as Amas de casa desesperadas, The Knights of Prosperity, Dirty Sexy Money and HBO’s hit series Entourage. She is expected to be in the film Meet the Browns which is yet to be released in 2008.

Sofia Vergara’s contributions to inspire Hispanic women were not left unnoticed. She became the recipient of the Woman of the Year Award in 2000 by Nobel Peace Prize Winner Rigoberta Menchu. In 2002, she was the first Colombian to receive a Women of Hope Award.

This hot Latina also has a non-profit organization that is Peace and Hope for the Children of Colombia, which was established in 2001.

Sofia Vergara also has her own line. She launched her fashion collection, Vergara by Sofia, in the fall of 2004.
