Shannyn Sossamon and her family moved to Reno Nevada. She was only 17 years old after her graduation from high school when she left to pursue her love for dance in Los Angeles. She was with Dance Unlimited when she found an alternate career as a DJ in local clubs.
In 1997, she appeared in episodes of Mr. Show with Bob and David.
The world of acting has never been her the goal of this hot and sexy dancer. But on 1999, when she was helping out a friend at the joint party of Gwyneth Paltrow and her brother Jake Paltrow, she was discovered by Francine Maisler who is a casting director. She was offered to play the character of Lady Jocelyn in the 2001 film A Knight’s Tale. After six call backs, Shannyn Sossamon finally got the part.
A lot of movies came her way after that. She played the role of Erica Sutton in the film 40 Days and 40 Nights in 2002. In the same year, she starred alongside James Van Der Beek, Kip Pardue and the hot actress Jessica Biel in the movie The Rules of Attraction where she played Lauren Hynde.
In 2003, she starred in the movie Wholey Moses. She was also included in the cast of The Order (2003) alongside Heath Ledger Benno Furmann and Mark Addy. She played the role of Mara Sinclair.
She also guest starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2004.
The sexy Shannyn Sossamon appeared in six Hollywood movies in the year 2005. She played the role of Jo in the love story I Hate You. She also starred in the film Chasing Ghosts, alongside Michael Madsen and Corey Large, where she played the role Taylor Spencer. She was also included in the cast of the movies Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Devour, The Double and Undiscovered.
She has appeared in The Holiday in 2006 and Catacombs in 2007. Also in 2007, she appeared in television series like Dirt and Moonlight.
Shannyn Sossamon has three upcoming Hollywood movies in 2008.
