Shannen Doherty Biography
Shannen Dohertys career started early when she played guest roles in TV series including Father Murphy and Voyagers. When a casting call was held for a role on the Little House on the Prairie, Shannen, at 11 years old, grabbed the opportunity and won the role of Jenny Wilder. Shannen was cast as one of the Witherspoon siblings on the family drama, Our House. She played the part of Kris from 1986 to 1988.
In 1989, Shannen Doherty was seen in her first major motion picture role in the film, Heathers. She then won a role in the Aaron Spelling-produced TV drama series, Beverly Hills 90210 from 1990 to 1994. Although her departure from the series was reportedly hostile, Spelling still cast her in another TV series, Charmed in 1998. In this series, Shannen Doherty played Prue Halliwell, the oldest of three witch sisters. During the show, Shannen Doherty was given a few directorial roles and 5% of the rights to the series. However, after three years, she left Charmed reportedly due to a feud with co-star Alyssa Milano.
Shannen Doherty is a media favorite because of her problems with the law and fights with other celebrities, such as Tara Reid. In 1997, she was sentenced to anger-management counseling after getting into an argument with Corey Hanker and resulted in Shannen smashing a beer bottle on his car window that occurred August of 1996. Again, in 2001, Shannen Doherty was arrested for drunk driving, sentenced to 3 years probation and community service and then charged with a $1,500 fine.
Shannen Doherty posed for a 9-page story in Playboy Magazine. She dated Beverly Hills co-star Jason Priestly. She married actor Ashley Hamilton in 1993, three weeks after they first met, but ended in divorce a year later. In 2002, she then married internet millionaire Rick Salomon, but ended the marriage in early 2003 when a sex tape with Paris Hilton was released.
