When Scarlett Johanssons mother started to take her to auditions, her career in acting began. In 2002, Scarlett Johansson attended and graduated at the Professional Childrens School in Manhattan. Her first role in a major film was in the 1994 movie, North. After several small roles in the late 90s, Scarlett Johansson eventually won her big break in the 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer and 2001 Ghost World, which both garnered widespread attention and positive reviews.
In 2003, she played a role in the film, Lost in Translation, which led to an Upstream Prize for best actress at the Venice Film Festival. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in her role in Lost in Translation and another Golden Globe nomination for a drama film, Girl with a Pearl Earring. She was nominated for both Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring at the BAFTAs.
In 2004, Scarlett Johansson received an invitation to join the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences. She then appeared in several big-hit films, including The Perfect Score, In Good Company and A Long Song for Bobby Long. She then starred alongside Ewan McGregor in the 2005 action film, The Island and played in two Woody Allen movies, Match Point and Scoop. Her latest films include The Black Dahlia, The Prestige, The Nanny Diaries and The Other Boleyn Girl.
Aside from acting, Scarlett Johansson has been the face and spokesperson for Louis Vuitton, LOreal, Reebok and Calvin Klein perfume, Eternity Moment. She has been open in criticizing the media and Hollywood for promoting an unhealthy image that causes eating disorders among women.
Scarlett Johansson dated musician, Jack Antonoff. She has been linked with several famous men, including Benicio del Toro, Derek Jeter, Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto and Josh Harnett. Although Harnett and Scarlett Johansson did dated for two years until 2006, they broke up due to their busy professional lives. In an interview, she states that she prefers to date older men and would not date men under 30. Scarlett Johansson is currently dating Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds.
