Her first foray into acting was for a Noxzema commercial which started in 1991, she then became the popular face for the skin care brand. Rebecca Gayhearts first professional acting role was in 1992 for the now defunct Loving, a soap opera where she played the part of Hannah Mayberry. This led to further acting gigs, mostly for television, although none were very noteworthy. In between 1993 to 1995, Rebecca Gayheart starred in the Vanishing Son, Earth 2, Beverly Hills 90210 where she was a recurring star, Invasion, and Sliders.
Rebecca Gayhearts first movie appearance was for Scream 2 in 1997. This paved the way for more movie roles and acknowledgement for her as an actress. Following Scream 2 was Nothing to Lose, Urban Legend, Hair Shirt, and Jawbreakers. Rebecca Gayheart also appeared in a Quentin Tarantino film, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangmans Daughter. Some of her more recent films include 2001s Doppelganger and Harvard Man.
Unfortunately in 2001, Rebecca Gayheart had killed a 9 year old boy, Jorge Cruz, as he was crossing the street in the Los Angeles area. The police report stated that although the other cars had let the boy go, she veered around the traffic and hit the boy. He died the next day at the Los Angeles Childrens Hospital. The boys parents filed a wrongful-death charge against Rebecca Gayheart, and the actress covered all funeral and medical expenses. She was also given three year probation, a fine, and 750 hours of community service as part of her sentence, together with a public service statement. Her lawyer, Harland Braun, disclosed to the courts that the actress was on the cell phone during the incident.
