Rachel Weisz was born on March 7, 1971 in London, England. She was raised in Hampstead with her Hungarian-born father George, who was an inventor and her Vienna-born Austrian psychoanalyst. Her father was of Jewish ancestry, so Rachel Weisz was raised in a cerebral Jewish household. Rachel has an artist sister named Minnie.

Rachel Weisz attended North London Collegiate School, wherein she was expelled. She then continued her studies at the Benenden School and eventually finished her studies in St. Paul’s Girls School. Rachel Weisz then pursued a 2:1 in English at the Trinity Hall, Cambridge. During this time, she participated and starred in various student productions. She also co-founded a student drama group called, “Cambridge Talking Tongues”, which won a “Guardian Student Drama Award” at the Edinburgh Festival for an acclaimed piece, “Slight Possession”.

In 1993, Rachel Weisz appeared in a major UK television series, “Inspector Morse”. However, her first feature firm was in the 1995 film, “Chain Reaction” and “Stealing Beauty”. It was when Rachel Weisz played the role of Gilda in Sean Mathia’s 1995 film, “Welsh” did she receive numerous offers. She then worked on various English films, including “My Summer with Des”, “The Land Girls”, “Swept from the Sea” and “I Want You”.

While Rachel Weisz was building a career through appearing in minor films, she received dramatic recognition when she played in the horror movie, “The Mummy” alongside Brendan Frasier. The film gave Rachel Weisz worldwide exposure, which led to big-hit movies like 2001 “The Mummy Returns”, 2001 “Enemy at the Gates”, 2002 “About a Boy”, 2003 “Runaway Jury” and the 2005 film with Keanu Reeves, “Constantine”.

In 2005, Rachel Weisz starred in “The Constant Gardener”, which earned her the 2006 Golden Globe Award for “Best Supporting Actress and the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role”, among others. She also won awards from the British Independent Film Awards, London Critics Circle Film Awards and a nomination from the BAFTA awards.

Rachel Weisz previously dated actors Neil Morrissey and Alessandro Nivola. She was also romantically involved with director Sam Mendes and comedian Ben Miller. She has been dating filmmaker, Darren Aronofsky since 2004. The couple has a son named Henry Chance, who was born in Mary 31, 2006 in New York. The couple is engaged and is currently living in the East Village of Manhattan.
