At thirteen, Rachel McAdams joined a summer camp in acting in Toronto. In 1995, she won an acting award, her first ever, for her part in I Live In A Little Town. She soon graduated from York University with an honors degree in theater. Rachel McAdams made several movies including Shotgun Love Dolls, The Famous Jett Jackson, The Hot Chick, and My Name is Tanino, and Mean Girls before Hollywood finally saw her as an emerging professional actress. Her role as the queen bee in Mean Girls catapulted her to fame. She struck gold when she was cast in 2004s The Notebook, which proved to be her breakthrough movie. he and her costar Ryan Gosling also started dating after the movie, and they also won an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
In 2005, Rachel McAdams joined Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in the romantic comedy, Wedding Crashers. She played Owen Wilsons love interest in the movie. She also proved to be a very versatile actress, as she followed this up with a lead role in Red Eye, a Wes Craven-directed thriller. Rachel McAdams also starred in The Family Stone, together with an all star cast that composed of Diane Keaton, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, and Claire Danes.
2006 saw the slow down of Rachel McAdams movies. She decided to slow down and take some time off, to spend time with family and friends. Rachel McAdamss time in the industry certainly has not gone unnoticed, as she has won several awards and nominations. These include winning the Teen Choice Award in several categories for the Notebook, a Teen Choice Award for Choice Actress in a Comedy for Wedding Crashers.
Rachel McAdams has also been recognized as one of the most beautiful actresses today. In 2005, Maxim Magazine named her number 14 on their Hot 100 List, and number 17 for the same list in 2006. FHM Magazine has named her number 51 in their 100 Sexiest Women in the World for 2006. She currently lives in Silverlake, Los Angeles.
