Nastassja Kinskis sharp features and good looks got her modeling jobs when she was thirteen years old. She starred in her first movie at age 13, The Wrong Move, and soon after, To the Devil A Daughter. When Nastassja Kinski was sixteen, she met and fell in love with Roman Polanski. He was a film director, and he urged her to go to Los Angeles to take up acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. She then starred in her next movie, Tess, under his direction, which marked her movement to American films. She was nominated a Golden Globe in 1981 for the movie in the category of Best Motion Picture Actress in a Drama film. Around the same year she shot the movie, she appeared in a nude photo with a snake around her, which created a lot of controversy.
Nastassja Kinski starred in a Francis Ford Coppola film, One from the Heart, and also shot Cat People in the same year. She was nominated a Saturn Award for Best Actress for Cat People, as it proved to be a hit, although it was noticed that she did not seem to particularly be a favorite among the American audience. She continued to make both American and international films, such as The Moon and the Gutter, Unfaithfully Yours, The Hotel New Hampshire, and Paris, Texas. It was Paris, Texas, that drew recognition to Nastassja Kinski, and it also won several awards at the Cannes Film Festival.
Nastassja Kinski married Ibrahim Moussa, an Egyptian film producer. They have a daughter together, Sonia Moussa, born on 1986, before the couple married and then divorced in 1992. Nastassja Kinski was also seeing Quincy Jones from 1991 to 1997, and the pair produced a daughter, Kenya Julia Miambi Sarah Jones.
She is also a supporter of the International Red Cross, of which she has been helping both financially and used her fame to draw awareness. Her more recent films include Inland Empire in 2006, and The Claim in 2000.
