In 1988, Monica Bellucci moved to Milan, the fashion center of Europe, where she became a leading model with Elite Model Management. After a year, she became a very popular model in Paris and New York. She also posed for Elle, Dolce & Gabanna and many renowned fashion companies. It was also in 1989 that Monica Bellucci decided to act and attended acting lessons.
In 1992, Monica Bellucci appeared in a small role as one of Draculas brides in the film, Bram Stokers Dracula. This was her first movie in an English-language film. However, she became an international actress in her outstanding portrayal in the acclaimed Italian film, Malena, wherein she became popular even with English-speaking audiences. In 2005, Monica Bellucci portrayed a beautiful evil queen in the fantasy film, The Brothers Grimm. She also played in the 2006 film The Stone Council, portrayed a physiotherapist in the 2007 film Manuale damore 2 and appeared in the film Shoot Em Up, costarring Clive Owen. The latest film Monica Bellucci is working on is the thriller Le Deuxieme soufflé.
Monica Bellucci is married to actor Vincent Cassel, whom she co-starred in several films. The couple has a daughter named Deva, who was born on September 12, 2004. During her pregnancy, Monica Bellucci posed nude for the Italian magazine, Vanity Fair, in protest against Italian laws that forbid unmarried couples to use in-vitro fertilization and preventing the use of donor sperms.
