Michelle Williamss first movie was in 1994 for Lassie. This was followed by Species in 1995 and A Thousand Acres in 1997 where she costarred with Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Lange, and Halloween H20 in 1998. She also had appearances in television shows such as Step By Step, My Son Is Innocent, and Killing Mr. Griffin before she had her first regular role in Dawsons Creek. It was her role as Jen Lindley in the teenage drama show Dawsons Creek that drew attention to her as an actress and garnered her the 1998 and 1999 Young Star Award nominations for Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Drama TV Series .
