Mia Sara started work on television when she was 13, for the soap opera All My Children. Her debut into film was for the 1985 film, Legend, where she starred with Tom Cruise, as Princess Lili. Her next role was for Ferris Buellers Day Off, where she played the girlfriend of Matthew Broderick. Her role as Sloane Peterson is what made her popular, not just for acting but for her beauty as well. This was followed by her work in a television series, Queenie, in 1987. Mia Sara was also cast in CBSs Till We Meet Again in 1989. In 1990, she made her first television movie, called Daughter of Darkness.
Mia Sara was cast as a Hasidic woman in A Stranger Among Us in 1992. In 1993, she played Loretta Young in Call of the Wild, which was a remake of the original. This was followed by Blindsided, which gave Mia Sara a chance to do a different character. In 1994, she was cast alongside Jean Claude Van Damme in Timecop, where she played his wife. She won a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her Timecop role. She also had a guest appearance on Chicago Hope, where she played a transsexual girlfriend of Peter Berg, and her appearance lasted two episodes because her character was killed.
Other movies that Mia Sara appeared in were The Maddening in 1996, where she costarred with Angie Dickinson and Burt Reynolds; Hard Time: Premonition, in 1998; and the series 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in 1997. She married Jason Connery, the son of Sean Connery, in 1996. Mia Sara and he also had a film together, Bullet to Beijing, where they both played spies of the Soviet. They have a son, Dashiell Quinn Connery, but divorced in 2002.
