Melissa Gilbert Biography
Melissa Gilbert is best known for her role as Laura Ingalls Wider on the hit series Little House on the Prairie, where she appeared from 1974 to 1983. She is also famous for her role in the Faerie Tale Theatre, where she played the role of Gerda. Since then she is one of Hollywoods stars of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000.
Melissa Gilbert landed the role of Laura Ingalls Wilder after winning the audition over 500 girls. With her role in Little House on the Prairie, she soon became one of the young stars in Hollywood in the 70s and 80s.
While appearing on Little House on the Prairie, Melissa Gilbert also appeared in several television shows and series. In 1977, she was in Circus, Lions, Tigers and Melissa Too and in Christmas Miracle in Cufield, USA. The following year, she was seen in The Love Boat and the following year in Nutcracker Fantasy, The Miracle Worker, Little House Years.
In 1980, Melissa Gilbert played the role of Anne Frank in the television The Diary of Anne Frank. The following year, she was also seen in Splendor in the Grass. In 1983, she was seen in Choices of the Heart and Little House: Look Back to Yesterday.
After Little House on the Prairie, she was seen in several television shows including, Family Secrets, Sylvester, Drug Free Kids: A Parents Guide, Choices, The Penalty Phase, Blood Vows: The Story of a Mafia Wife, Killer Instinct, Ice House and Chameleons.
In the 90s, Melissa Gilbert was seen in Without Consent, Forbidden Nights, Joshuas Nights, Donor, The Lookalike, Dying to Remember, The Babymaker: The Dr. Cecil Jacobson Story, Against Her Will: The Carrie Buck Story, Cries From the Heart, Batman, Babylon 5, Zoya, Her Own Rules and others.
