Melanie Sykes was born in Lancanshire on August 7, 1970. She is of Anglo-Indian descent because of her mother. She went to the Mossley Hollins High School, and attended the Ashton Sixth Form College where she took up Religious Studies. She was part of a band called the Stalybridge Brass Band with her father. Melanie Sykes started out as a model, and became famous as the Boddingtons beer girl where she was photographed in a bikini. She was also a lingerie model, and modeled for Falmer Jeans and Pearl Drops commercials.

Melanie Sykes did a documentary about Asian culture in Britain for BBC, called the Melanie Sykes Southall stories. She then started a career in television, where she was also reporting The Big Breakfast as well as stints in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, as well as Eastenders Revealed. Melanie Sykes was also a favorite choice as host. She played host to Miss World, The BAFTA Awards, and Q Awards. After a temporary break, she returned to the small screen in 2003 when she was host to the Today with Des and Mel show, although the show was cancelled after three years.

Melanie Sykes was also a television host for MTV’s Hit List UK. She did other British shows such as Celebrities Under Pressure, The Vault, and hosted the National Television Awards Party of the Year. She was a presenter for The A List, a radio show. Melanie Sykes has not discontinued her modeling, as she starred in a Head and Shoulders commercial in the UK, as well as modeling clothes for the brand Matalan. She co-wrote a book in 2006, called Blooming Beautiful: My Plan for Looking Great, Being Healthy and Surviving Hormonal Havoc, Throughout Pregnancy and as a New Mum, with Hilary Boyd.

Melanie Sykes has proven herself versatile, dabbling in a little bit of everything. Her more recent work includes being presenter to the BBC show, Gene Detectives. She also filled in for Paul O’Grady when he took leaves from his show. Her physical assets have made her a favorite on television, which is why she has gotten a number of hosting jobs aside from modeling.

Melanie Sykes has dated a number of men before she finally settled down, including Chris Evans, Chris Makin, Jago Anderson and Max Beeseley. She is currently married to Daniel Caltagirone, an Italian. The pair got married in the Carribean during 2000 during a secret ceremony. They have two sons, Roman, and Lucas.
