Marg Helgenberger was born Mary Margaret Helgenberger on the 16th of November 1958 in Freemont, Nebraska to a mother was nurse and to a father was a meat inspector. She is best known for her part in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Catherine Willows. She is also known for her part in China Beach, for which she had won the coveted Emmy Award.

When Marg Helgenberger was a teenager, she used to work during summers and Christmas breaks as a boner where her father worked. She went to the North Bend Central High School and was in the marching band, playing the French horn. After high school, she went to the Northwestern University in Illinois where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree.

Marg Helgenberger first worked as a weather girl in one of Nebraska’s local stations but soon a local scout spotted her while in the production of her university’s The Taming of the Shrew. The following year, 1982, Marg was playing the role of Siobhan Ryan Novak. She played the part for four years, until 1986 and was most identified with it even though others have played the part.

Her first major part on television was on China Beach, playing the role of KC Koloski, a prostitute to the servicemen on base. For her role as KC, Marg Helgenberger won the Best Supporting Actress Award from the Emmy Awards 1990. Then she was also praised for her performance as Patsy Ramsey in Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenet and the City Boulder.

In 2000, Marg Helgenberger landed female lead the part of Catherine Willows in the hit series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In preparation for her part, she went to the Las Vegas’ Clark County Coroner’s Office to see how an actual autopsy was performed.

Marg Helgenberger appeared in several movies including In Good Company, Conan: Red Nails, Mr. Brooks and others.

Marg Helgenberger is one of Hollywood’s hottest television stars since the success of CSI. In 2003, she was included in the 50 Most Beautiful People list of the People Magazine. She was also ranked 16 on the VH1’s 40 Hottest Women over 40; ranked 15th on The 25 Most Attractive (Famous) Women in America for 2004; and was one of Esquire Magazine’s: 5 More Women We Love, in 2002.
