Lynda Carter was born Linda Jean Córdova Carter on the 24th of July 1951. She is most famous for her role as Wonder Woman in the hit television series Wonder Woman. Her mother was Mexican/Spanish while her father was Irish American. Lynda Carter grew up in Arizona and graduated from Globe High School in Arizona and from Phoenix’s Arcadia High School. After high school she went to the Arizona State University but dropped out after winning the “most talented student”. She then decided to pursue singing and toured with different rock groups.

In 1972, Lynda Carter returned to Arizona and joined the local beauty pageant which led to her winning the Miss World USA of 1972, for which she was one of the semi-finalist. After the Miss World USA, she then went to New York and enrolled herself to acting schools. Soon Lynda landed several guest starring appearances in some of the hottest shows on television including, Cos, Nakia and Starsky and Hutch. Lynda Carter was also seen in the movie Bobie Jo and the Outlaw in 1976.

However, it was Lynda Carter's role as Wonder Woman which made her one of the hottest and sexiest stars in Hollywood in the 70s. Wonder Woman lasted three seasons but she was forever identified with the role that despite her stardom the producers had hard time finding suitable roles for her. At the same time, thirty years since the show, producers, in their attempt to reproduce the show, also have hard time finding another actress suitable for the role of Wonder Woman.

During the late 70s, Lynda Carter released her album entitled, Portrait, where she sang two of the album’s songs in the episode Amazon Hot Wax of Wonder Woman.

In 1983, Lynda Carter played the character of Rita Hayworth in the biopic of the same title. Lynda was also seen in the TV series Partners in Crime in 1984, where she starred opposite actress Loni Anderson. That same year, she also appeared with Lee Horsley in another series Hawkeye.

In 2001, Lynda Carter was seen in Super Troopers and in 2005 was in the movie The Dukes of Hazard, a remake of the film of the same title. That same year, she was also in Sky High, playing the roe of Principal Powers in a school for young superheroes.

Lynda Carter was also seen in other television series, movies and onstage, including Chicago’s West End production.
