After a very successful career as a child star, Lucero was next seen in the movie Coqueta, where she starred opposite Pablo Fernandez. Later she would be seen as the lead star in the telenovela Chispita. That same year, she recorded an album El, by Discos Musart. The album was released in 1982 and most of it was produced and written by Sergio Andrade, the man involved in the controversy with Gloria Trevi.
During this time, Lucero recorded mostly for those who loved Lucerito. Then in 1985, she released the album Magia. Magia was more teen oriented and soon she had her first hit, Fuego y ternura. The successful single was written this time by Prisma, the singer/songwriter. The single was a huge success in Latin America and all over Mexico.
Then she released Un Pedacito De Mi, again under Disco Musart, in 1986. That same year, Lucero left the management of Sergio Andrade and did not promote the album, which eventually flopped. In 1989, she release Licerito, under Discos Melody and it was a great success, establishing her as the hot Mexican pop idol. That same year, she changed her name to Lucero since she was by then already 20 years old.
In 1990, Lucero was once again seen on television, in Cuando Llega El Amor, for which she won the Best Actress from the TV y Novelas Award. Then in 1994, she was in Los Parientes Pobres, for which she again won the same award. In 1996 she would win her third Best Actress Award for her role in Lazos de Amor. From 1997 to 2004, she was also the host of the Teleton-Mexico.
At present, Lucero is seen in the telenovela Alborada, which is has the highest television rating in Mexico. In 2006, she released Quireme Tal Como Soy and is now busy with Lucero En Vivo Auditorio Nacional, a live record of her shows.
