Lauren Huttons first film appearance was in 1968, in the movie, Paper Lion. Then she was seen opposite James Caan in the movie The Gambler by James Toback, for which she was noticed for her acting skills. At the same time, she was one of the most famous fashion models at that time. In 1980, she played an adulteress in the movie American Gigolo, where she was seen with the then unknown Richard Gere.
By the early 80s, Lauren Hutton was seen mostly in European films although she appeared in few films in Hollywood. In 1985, she was seen in Lassiter and in Once Bitten; both did not do well at the box office. In the 90s Lauren Hutton returned to fashion modeling and had one of the most successful comebacks in fashion. With the renewed success of her fashion career, several movies followed suit.
As she neared the age of 50, the media focused on her beauty which seemed to defy her age. They also covered her love for travel and love for anthropology. As for her travel, Lauren Hutton had visited Africa several times and admits to loving the place and the people.

In 2000, Lauren Hutton had a motorcycle accident while celebrating a motorcycle exhibit. Other celebrities in the exhibit include, Dennis Hopper and Jeremy Irons, who fortunately gave her a full-face helmet before the accident. Lauren spent months in rehabilitation due to the accident.
After successfully recovering from the accident, Lauren Hutton launched her own line of cosmetics, Good Stuff, which is sold at the Home Shopping Network. In 2005, she posed nude in at the magazine Big, showing the world that she is still one of the sexiest Hollywood stars, because of her natural beauty and style.
