Lauren Ambrose Biography
Early in her acting career, Lauren Ambrose also made outstanding appearances on the small screen, including the crime series Law and Order and Party of Five.
Her first movie role was In and Out in 1997, a comedy film where she was cast as a student alongside big names in the movie industry such as Kevin Kline, Matt Dillon, and Joan Cusack. This was followed by a bigger role in 1998s Cant Hardly Wait, a teen comedy where she costarred with Seth Green, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ethan Embry. Lauren Ambrose also starred in Summertimes Calling Me, Saving Graces, Swimming, and Psycho Beach Party before she landed a role in the HBO television series Six Feet Under. Her work in the series earned her a nomination for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Emmy Award two years in a row.
In September of 2004, Lauren Ambrose made her debut in the UK stage by starring in the play Buried Child. Two years later, she made her first Broadway show, starring in Awake and Sing!, and in 2007 she acted as Juliet for Public Theaters Romeo and Juliet, at the Delacorte Theater. Lauren Ambrose received many praises for her theater acting skills.
Lauren Ambroses mother Annie, is an interior designer while her father, Frank, is a caterer, although her parents are separated. She has been married to her husband, photographer Sam Handel, since 2001. The couple bore a son in January 2007, named Orson Halcyon, and all live in Manhattan. Lauren Ambrose is fond of playing ultimate Frisbee and is currently studying piano.
