|
When Kristen Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak Michigan, she participated in the school play and starred as Dorothy in the production of Wizard of Oz. She also played in supporting roles in several plays, including Fiddler on the Roof, Lady Be Good and Lil Abner.
For Kristen Bells love of the theater, she studied musical theater at New York Universitys Tisch School of the Arts. Evidence to her studies was her famous performance in the 2005 Showtimes Reefer Madness: The Musical. Her major break in Broadway was in 2001 when she played the role of Becky Thatcher in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
In 2002, Kristen Bells performance opposite famous actors like Liam Neeson and Laura Linney proved her skills. Playing Susanna Walcott, Bell played a great role in the revival of Arthur Millers The Crucible. She also appeared off-Broadway in productions of Hair and The Miracle Worker.
In 2003, Kristen Bell received a role in the made-for-TV drama, The King and Queen of Moonlight Bay, where she received great reviews from her solid performance. Another notable film to Bells credit is Gracies Choice, where she played a young girl that struggles to raise her 3 step-brothers when her drug-addicted mother was sent to jail.
Kristen Bell was a popular face in the small screen, having appearances in numerous series, including Everwood (2002), American Dreams (2002-2005), 2004 thriller Spartan. However, it was in 2004 that Kristen won the lead role in the TV series, Veronica Mars. Even if she is 7 years older than the character, Bell played a believable next-generation Nancy Drew. She won several nominations for her performance in Veronica Mars, including a 2005 TV Critics Association Award nomination.
Since 2003, Kristen Bell has been dating Kevin Mann, a high school swimming coach and independent film producer (for movies like Fifty Pills wherein Bell starred). They are currently living together in their Los Angeles home when Bell is not in San Diego filming Veronica Mars. She has two dogs named Mr. Shakes and Lola.
