Kirsten Dunst Biography
In 1989, Kirsten Dunst made her first big-screen appearance in a Woody Allen film, New York Stories. A few months after, her family moved to Los Angeles, where Dunst received more casting calls and her career took off.
In 1994, Kirsten Dunst made a memorable performance in the Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt film, Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles. Her performance in this 1994 film earned her a Golden Globe nomination and two awards MTVs Best Breakthrough Performance and Saturn Award for Best Young Actress. She made several hit movies including the 1994 Little Women, 1995 Jumanji and 1998 Small Soldiers.
However, it was in 2000 that Kirsten Dunst received positive reviews for her role as Lux Lisbon in the 1999 independent film, The Virgin Suicides. Another big hit was the 2000 comedy flick, Bring it On, where Dunst proved she can be a leading actress in any genre. That same year, Dunst graduated from the Notre Dame High School in L.A.
Of course, Kirsten Dunst is most popular in her portrayal of Mary Jane Watson in the Spider Man series. The success of the first film in 2002 led her to sign on for an appearance in the two other Spider Man films, which was released in 2004 (Spider Man 2) and 2007 (Spider Man 3). Dunst states that she will not appear in another Spider Man film, unless Sam Raimi returned to the set as director.
In September 2002, Kirsten Dunst dated actor Jake Gyllenhaal after meeting him through Mona Lisa Smile co-star, Maggie. Their relationship lasted until July 2004 when they broke up and dated irregularly until December 2005. During their break up, Dunsts friendship with Jakes sister, Maggie also ended.
In one interview, Kirsten Dunst admitted that she tried smoking marijuana and other kinds of drugs. Although she says that Americas view on marijuana is silly and the world will be a peaceful place if everyone smoked pot, she is still against being stoned all day doing nothing useful.
Kirsten Dunst is known for her individualistic and hip fashion style. Because of this, she has been included in Richard Blackwells famous Best Dressed List. Currently, Dunst is scheduled to play a number of films and has signed future roles for 2008 and 2009 releases. Dunst and her mother are now working on their own production company, called Wooden Spoon Productions.
