Kim Delaney’s 5’7 frame, brunette beauty, and overall good looks made her a stunner on the runway. Kim Delaney graced the covers of several magazines, Glamour and Seventeen were some of them. When Kim Delaney graduated from high school, she headed off to New York to model some more and eventually enrolled to study acting under the wings of Bill Esper at the William Esper Studio.
Kim Delaney’s first professional acting gig was for the soap opera, All My Children, in 1981, playing the role of the sweet and innocent Jenny Gardner. The show was what introduced Kim Delaney to the viewing public, and made her popular, also earning her a Emmy Daytime nomination. The show lasted until 1984, after which she started starring in B movies, such as Campus Man, Body Parts, and The Drifter, in which she did the first and only nude scene in her acting career.
After Kim Delaney’s short stint with movies, she started appearing in many television shows, the first of which was in 1987 for L.A. Law although this only lasted for four episodes. Other shows of which she was a regular, was Tour of Duty and Philly, the latter of which she was the lead role.
Kim Delaney also signed on for NYPD Blue, playing the part of Detective Diane Russell, and was only supposed to be a temporary gig although the producers were so happy with her performance they had asked her to stay on, and she lasted for 6 years. Kim Delaney’s role in NYPD Blue earned her an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress. Later on she also signed on to CSI: Miami, as a forensic scientist and DNA specialist, although her appearance was also short lived, lasting only 10 episodes. Kim Delaney also starred in The O.C. Kim Delaney is currently busy filming Army Wives in South Carolina.
Although Kim Delaney remains quiet about her personal life, it is known that she has had two marriages: The first to Charles Grant, and the second to Joseph Cortese, both actors, but the latter and her have produced a child in 1990, his name is Jack Philip Cortese.
Kim Delaney enjoys being physically active, as it shows in her hobbies which are golf, swimming, and working out at the gym.
