Kelly Ripa was born Kelly Maria Ripa on the 2nd of October 1970 in New Jersey. Her father is an Italian while her mother is Irish-Italian. She attended the Eastern High School in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. At Eastern High she participated in several school plays which lead to her playing in the local theatre. Her local appearance led to a spot in the Dance Party USA. The Dance Party was USA Network’s teen music show in the afternoon. After that she landed a role in the hit soap All My Children. She played the teen gothic turned heroine Hayley Vaughan. This made her famous and drew a cult following across the US.

In 1995, her character Haley was paired with Mateo Santos played by Mark Consuelos. Like their characters in All My Children, the two had a romantic relationship and eloped in 1996 in Las Vegas. They soon had three children born the following year, in 2002 and the last one in 2003. She and Mark decided to leave All My Children in 2002.

In 2003, she appeared again on television in the sitcom Hope and Faith. She played Faith Fairfield and appeared opposite Faith Ford. Hope and Faith ended in 2006 after it failed in the ratings. In 2007, Kelly said that she is content with her work in Live with Regis and Kelly. She said it is not likely that she will do another film or television series for the time being.

Kelly won several awards for her performance on television. She won the Soap Opera Digest Award for her performance as Haley in 1996. She received the same award for the same role in 1998 and then in 2000. She was also nominated three times of Daytime Emmy Awards for her Haley role. Aside from the nominations for All My Children she was nominated for hosting the Live with Regis and Kelly.

In 2006, she won the Outstanding Special Class Special from the Daytime Emmy Award for her hosting of the 2005 Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade. She hosted the special with Regis and Ryan Seacrest.

Then also in 2006 she broke the Guinness World Record of pie throwing held by Matt Kensth set the previous day. Kelly tossed 24 pies in one minite to Wilmer Valderrama.

Other films to her credit included Marvin’s Room, The Stand In, Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman and Cheaper by the Dozen. She also appeared on television in Someone to Love, It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time, Kelly Ripa’s E! True Hollywood Story, 50 Funniest Woman Alive and Go, Diego Go.
