Kelly Monaco then moved to Los Angeles to fulfill her dreams of becoming an actress. She sent a nude photo of herself to Playboy, and in April 1997 she was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month. It was not difficult for her to land such a special mention from the publication; her petite frame and breathtaking brunette beauty truly made her stand out. She had many other features in Playboy, including appearing on the Playboy Special Edition magazines. After Playboy, Kelly Monaco made other appearances in men’s magazines including Maxim and FHM. In May of 2006, Maxim magazine named her number 13 on their Hot 100 List.
Kelly Monaco’s first professional acting stint came in 1997 when she landed a role for Baywatch where she stayed until 1998, playing the role of Susan. It is reported that she also did doubles for Carmen Electra at some parts during the show, because she could not swim. Kelly Monaco also had small roles in films throughout the nineties, including Baseketball, Idle Hands, and Mumford. Kelly Monaco was a familiar face more on the small screen than in the silver screen, gracing other shows with her appearance including Port Charles where she was cast as Olivia Locke Morley. She stayed on the show from 1999 to 2003, and was nominated a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the part.
Kelly Monaco also appeared in General Hospital as the prostitute Sam McCall. She was also nominated a Daytime Emmy for the part in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Other television shows that Kelly Monaco has appeared in include Late Last Night, The Man Show, Hard Copy, Spin City, Dancing with the Stars, and Punk’d. Kelly Monaco has appeared in numerous Playboy Special Edition publications, from 1998 to 2003. She is also featured in Playboy videos, including Playboy: Playmate Profile Video Collection Featuring Miss April 1997, 1994, 1991, 198; Playboy Video Playmate Calendar 199; Playboy: Girls Next Door, Naughty and Nice, among others, and the most recent Playboy Playmate DVD Calendar Collection: The '90s.
Kelly Monaco has proven that she is not only beautiful outside but on the inside as well, as she is very socially aware and active. She volunteers for children’s charities and works with elders.
