As a champion equestrian, Kate Bosworth learned that a movie about horses, The Horse Whisperer was open for casting call. It was in 1998 that Kate auditioned in New York for this film, won a role as the lead actors best friend and worked with renowned director Robert Redford. Even if she enjoyed making this film, she took a vacation for a year and a half before plunging into acting. Kate Bosworth maintained academic excellence throughout high school, being a member of the National Honour Society.
In 2000, she won a role in the film, The Newcomers and a small part in a Denzel Washington movie, Remember the Titans. The following year, Kate Bosworth moved to Los Angeles to have better access to auditions, which led to her first leading role in the 2002 surf movie, Blue Crush. Receiving positive reviews and grossing over $40 million, Bosworth received a broader exposure.
After taking a role in an independent film called, The Rules of Attraction, Kate Bosworth starred opposite Val Kilmer in the biography of porn star legend John Holmes, Wonderland. In 2002 to 2005, she played a variety of roles in high-profile films, including Beyond the Sea, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton and Bee Season. However, it only until she played Lois Lane in the highly anticipated Superman Returns that Kate Bosworth proved that she could do anything and compete with other actresses.
In 2008, a psychological drama film, The Girl in the Park with Sigourney Weaver as co-star and Keri Russel is expected to hit theaters in late 2007 or early 2008. Kate Bosworth plays a troubled young girl that has been taken under Weavers wing. Other films yet to release include 21, another film with Kevin Spacey, After Life and Lost Girls and Love Hotels.
Aside from her career in the big screen, Kate Bosworth also appeared in a few Revlon ads. She used to date Matt Czuchry until 2002 and Lord of the Rings star, Orlando Bloom from 2002 to 2006. Kate is currently dating British model, James Rousseau.
