Julia Ormond begun her career in acting on stage and she has appeared in various plays, including, Wuthering Heights, The Crucible and The Rehearsal. She also did Faith, Hope and Charity by Christopher Hampton. For this play, she was awarded the Best New comer by the London Drama Critics. She also appeared in My Zinc Bed by David Hare, where she won a nomination from the coveted Lawrence Olivier Award.
After appearing on stage, Julia Ormond pursued a career on the big screen. She appeared in First Knight by Jerry Zucker and in Tim Roths Captives. Her first memorable role was in the film Legends of the Fall. In this movie, she appeared opposite Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn and Brad Pitt. This was followed by a leading lady role in Sabrina. Sabrina was directed by Sydney Pollock and was a remake of Audrey Hepburns film by the same title. She appeared opposite Harrison Ford in Sabrina. Then she appeared in Inland Empire in 2006 and was in I Know Who Killed Me in 2007.
For 2008, Julia Ormond is set to appear in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. In this film, she will be seen again opposite Brad Pitt. Then she is also set to appear in Guerrilla opposite Benicio del Toro, in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery opposite Abigail Breslin, and in Surveillance with Bill Pullman.
Julia Ormond's appearances on the big screen lead to roles on television. She was seen in the movie made for television, Stalin, which was produced and aired in HBO. Then she appeared in the series Traffik, Animal Far and Varians War.
Julia Ormond is also busy with her independent production company, the Indican Productions. One of Indican Productions projects was the documentary, Calling the Ghost: A Story of Rape, War and Women. The documentary won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the Cable ACE Award. She is also busy in an advocate of Transatlantic Partners Against Aids, which promotes AIDS awareness in Russia and the Ukraine.
In 1995, Julia Ormond was named by the People Magazine as one of Worlds 50 Most Beautiful People of 1995.
