After auditioning for dance roles, Jennifer Lopez finally won a slot as a dancer for the 1990 Yo! MTV Raps episode. She also appeared as a backup dancer for the American Music Awards, New Kids on the Block and a dancer on the TV comedy In Living Color. The sexy dancer also became a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, appearing in the 1993 video, Thats the way Love Goes.
Jennifer Lopez also achieved success in both TV shows and feature films. She appeared in the 1995 drama My Family, action movie Money Train, 1996 comedy flick Jack and the 1997 suspense film Blood and Wine. Jennifer Lopez won the lead role for the film Selena in 1997, which led to a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She also appeared in other critically acclaimed films such as The Cell, Out of Sight, Shall we Dance? and An Unfinished Life. Other Hollywood feature films to her credit include Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, Enough, Gigli and Monster-in-Law.
She is ranked #9 in the 2007 Forbes List of the 20 Richest Women in Entertainment, with an estimated net worth of $110 million from both her acting and singing career.
As for her music career, Jennifer Lopez has sold over 50 million records worldwide. Known to many as simply J.Lo, this talented sexy singer-dancer released her first album entitled On the 6 in 1999. It was then followed in 2001, with the self-titled album, J.Lo selling 12 millions copies to date. The following year, Jennifer Lopez decided to re-release the 2nd album devoted completely to remixes. With featured artists Fat Joe, Nas and P.Diddy, the third album J to tha L-O!: The Remixes, which was released in 2002, became the third biggest-selling remix of all time, selling 3 million copies to date.
In late 2002, Jennifer Lopez again released an album entitled This is Me Then with popular hits, such as Jenny from the Block. In 2005, JLos fourth studio album Rebirth was released, selling 3 million albums in the U.S. alone. In 2007, Jennifer Lopez decided to release a full Spanish-language album, entitled Como Ama una Mujer. During the same year, JLo released her sixth studio album Brave, which became a hit in US, Brazip and other European countries.
Jennifer Lopez was married to Ojani Noa from February 1997 to January 1998. Her second marriage was with former backup dancer, Chris Judd from September 2001 to June 2002. JLo is currently married to longtime friend Marc Anthony on June 5, 2004. The couple announced on November 8, 2007 that they are expecting their first child.
