Born as Jennifer Lynn Connelly on December 12, 1970 in Catskill Mountains, New York, this Hollywood star is of Irish and Jewish descent. She was raised in Brooklyn, where Jennifer attended St. Ann’s School. Her father’s friend who was an advertising executive suggested that Jennifer Connelly auditioned at a modeling agency.

At a young age of 10, Jennifer Connelly appeared in several magazine and newspaper ads, but then moved to TV commercials and movie auditions. Her first debut film was in the 1984 gangster epic, “Once Upon a Time in America”. Her role then led to the 1985 Dario Argento film, Phenomena.

In 1986, Jennifer Connelly became an instant success when she received a role in the fantasy film, Labyrinth. Although the film was not a box office success, it later became huge and gained a cult following worldwide. Two years later, Jennifer Connelly starred in a few obscure films, including “Some Girls” and “Etiole”. Her first film with a topless scene was in the 1990 movie, “Hot Spot”, which was directed by Dennis Hopper. Since then, Jennifer Connelly became a sex symbol during the early 1990s. She was featured in the August 1991 issue of Esquire as part of the feature entitled, “Women We Love”.

Throughout 1990s, Jennifer Connelly appeared in several movies, including 1991 Disney “The Rocketeer”, 1995 “Higher Learning”, 1996 indie film “Far Harbor”, 1997 “Inventing the ABbootts”, 1998 “Dark City” and 2000 “Waking the Dead. While she has been appearing in TV and movies for over a decade, Jennifer Connelly’s breakthrough was only in the 2000 film, Requiem for a Dream, which established her as a serious actress.

In 2001, Jennifer Connelly appeared in the 2001 Ron Howard film, A Beautiful Mind, which became a commercial and critical success, earning her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2003, the sexy and talented Jennifer Connelly appeared in two films – Hulk and “House of Sand and Fog”. She also appeared in a Japanese adaptation of the horror film, Dark Water in 2005.

In 2006, Jennifer Connelly played alongside Kate Winslet in “Little Children” and “Blood Diamond” opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Both films were nominated for multiple Academy Awards. Her latest work credits include the 2007 movie with Joaquin Phoenix, Reservation Road and “He’s Just Not That Into Road and a small role in “He’s Just Not That Into You”.

Jennifer Connelly is married to popular actor Paul Bettany. The couple has a son named Stellan, born August 5, 2003. Jennifer Connelly also has a son named Kai born in 1997 from her relationship with the photographer David Dugan.
