Jeanne Tripplehorn was born on June 10, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her father, Tom Tripplehorn has influenced her interest in the performing arts. He has worked several times as a guitarist with the 60s hot pop group Gary Lewis and the Playboys and did some recordings with them on hits like This Diamond Ring. She was educated at Edison High School. Afterwards, she studied at both the University of Tulsa and New York's Julliard School of Drama.

After graduation, she debuted on TV with a supporting role in The Perfect Tribute (1991). After a year, she supported Michael Douglas in Paul Verhoeven's thriller Basic Instinct (1992), the film that turned Sharon Stone into a sexy star. Her performance in this movie was well noted and other big films followed after sometime. It did not take Jeanne Tripplehorn long to establish her name in Hollywood. She has also worked alongside other top actors and actresses.

Jeanne Tripplehorn’s other movie projects include working with Tom Cruise in The Firm (1993), Kevin Costner with Waterworld (1995), Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors (1998), and Hugh Grant in Mickey Blue Eyes (1999). Aside from these, she has also been cast in numerous Hollywood films. She was seen portraying wholesome, sexy and adult roles on TV and on the wide screen. No doubt, she is a versatile performer and she was able to acquire her own followers and fans.

Another accomplishment came into the life of Jeanne Tripplehorn when she started to appear on Broadway as Masha in The Three Sisters. She was also seen on the plays Tis Pity She's a Whore, The Guys, and the off-Broadway The Big Funk.

Jeanne Tripplehorn has been engaged with actor/writer Ben Stiller, however, their roller coaster relationship broke up after 6 years. In the year 2000, she married actor Leland Orser of the famed 1994 TV show ER. They had one child whom they named August Tripplehorn Orser and are still together till date.

Jeanne Tripplehorn was recently seen on HBO’s Big Love as the polygamist Bill Paxton’s senior wife. Until now, she was still a hot commodity in the glamorous world of Hollywood.
