Izabella Scorupco and her mother moved to Stockholm, Sweden in 1978. There, she went to several singing and acting classes. She also began to write her own plays while bullying her classmates to perform. Though she was a regular visitor of nightclubs during those days, she went to a Catholic Convent just to study French for one year.
Her big break to stardom came when she was 17 years old. It was when she was spotted by Staffan Hildebrand, a director of films. Hildebrand was then touring for some promotions and he stopped at Izabella Scorupco’s school, where the two of them met. She impressed the film director when she bombarded him with questions and convinced him that she will fit in the role of his next project because it mirrors her own life. Hildebrand had no doubts about casting her in Ingen Kan Älska Som Vi (There Is No Love Like Ours) in 1998. This film about a child of divorced parents, who wants to search for his father, made her a certified teenage idol.
After graduation, Izabella Scorupco toured Europe while acting in television doing commercials and modeling. One of her magazine credits was appearing on the cover of Italian Vogue. Her hobby of singing with her musician friends when she is not busy landed in recording her own album in 1989 entitled Iza. Her Abba inspired song Substitute went gold and following this hot success, she released another album in 1991.
The progress of this sexy actress turned singer can never be stopped. Hollywood films welcomed her when she filmed her debut and played as a James Bond girl in the 1995 Pierce Brosnan starrer. She portrayed the role of a Russian genius who is determined to rescue the world. This was followed by other films which she did inside and outside Hollywood.
In 1996, Izabella Scorupco married NHL hockey player Mariusz Czerkawski. They had one daughter in 1997 that they named Julia. However, their union ended in divorce in 2000.
