Isabelle Huppert was born Isabelle Anne Huppert on the 16th of March 1955 in Paris, france. She grew up in Ville d’Avray in France and attended the Conservatory of Versaille later on, at the encouragement of her mother. At the prestigious school, she was once awarded for her acting talent.

Isabelle Huppert was first seen on stage, later on in television but by 1972 she began her career in movies. She then landed a role in the Faustine et le bel été in 1972 and then by 1974 she was seen in Les Valsueses. It was a very controversial film and it made her a household name in France.

By 1980, Isabelle Huppert made her first Hollywood appearance in the film Heaven’s Gate. The film by Michael Cimino was a critical success although it failed at the box office. In 1985, she was seen in La Ceremonie by Claude Chabrol, where she appeared opposite Sandrine Bonnaire.

In 2001, Isabelle Huppert was seen in La Pianiste by Michael Haneke. The movie was based on the novel Die Klavierspielerin by Elfriede Jekinek and won the 2004 Nobel Prize for Literature. In La Pianiste, Isabelle played the character Erika Kohut, a piano teacher who got involved with the character of Walter Klemmer, a young pianist. In 2004, she was seen in Ma mere, by Christophe Honore. She played the character of Helen, a mother having incestuous relationship with her son. She appeared opposite Louis Garrel on this movie based on the novel by George Bataille.

Then she returned once again on the stage in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. In 2005, Isabelle Huppert was in Sarah Kane production of 4.48 Psychosis. It was directed by Claude Regy and was performed whole in French. The play was performed across the US and was a major success.

Across Europe and all across the stage industry, Isabelle Huppert is well respected and admired. She was hailed for her performance in The Piano Teacher and was considered one of the most respected graduates of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts of Paris. The Cesare Award nominated her for a record number of fourteen times and won it in the La Ceremonie.

Isabelle Huppert was twice the recipient of Cannes Film Festival Best Actress. She won in 1977 for the Violette Noziere and again in 2001 in The Piano Teacher. She has also awarded the Coppa Volpi twice for her roles in Une affaire de femme and La Ceremonie.

Isabelle Huppert’s other awards include Best Actress awards from the European Film Award, Berlin Film Festival, Moscow Film Festival, Deutscher Filmpreis and David di Donatello.
