Holly Robinson Peete was born on the 18th of September 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was known as Holly Robinson before her marriage to the former National Foootball League star, Rodney Peete. Her parents are both actors; her dad was the original Sesame Street’s Gordon. For her parent’s career, the family moved to Los Angeles when she was just ten years old. Then they sent her to New York to attend the Sarah Lawrence College where she earned her degree in French and Psychology. She had such natural flare for languages that she was able to attend in Sorbonne for a year.

Holly Robinson Peete is most famous for her role in the teen crime series, the hit 21 Jumpstreet, where she played opposite Johnny Depp, Dusting Nguyen and Peter De Louise. She was on the hit series from 1987 to 1991, the duration of the show. Then in 1992, she was seen in Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper. From 1989 to 2002 she was seen in the comedy For Your Love. In 1997, she was seen in Pacific Blue and Touched by an Angel.

This was followed by her role in another comedy by UPN, Love, Inc. Unfortunately the show was cancelled when UPN was merged with Warner Brothers. From 2003 to 2004, Holly Robinson Peete was seen in Like Family as Tanya Ward, in 22 episodes. Also in 2004, she was seen in the television film Earthquake. In 2007, she appeared on television as Jackie Jameson in Football Wives.

Aside from acting, Holly Robinson Peete is also a very successful writer. She wrote the book, Get Your Own Damn Beer, I’m Watching the Game: A Woman’s Guide to Loving Pro Football, for which she was awarded the Quills Award in Sports.

Holly Robinson Peete and husband Rodney Peete have twins Ryan and Rodney Jr. and sons Robinson and Roman. Their son Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism and it made Holly very active in promoting autism awareness. She is also very active in promoting awareness for diseases afflicting children.

In her 2006 interview, Holly Robinson Peete, together with Department of Infectious Diseases’ Dr. Susan Rehem, she talked about the risks of rotavirus, the disease which is the most common cause of diarrhea in children. Holly informed the public that the disease results in about 55,000 children being hospitalized yearly and causes about 600,000 children fatalities a year globally. She also talked about the HollyRod, the foundation she and her husband co-founded.
