Holly Marie Combs was born the 3rd of December 1973 in California. Her parents were both teenagers when they had her and after a failed attempt at marriage, they separated. She then lived with her mother who struggled to be a mother and at the same time trying to launch her career in acting. When Holly was 7 her mother moved them both to New York. Holly went to the Beekman Hill Elementary in New York and then attended the Professional Children’s School of Acting. She soon then landed several commercial and print ad stints.

Holly’s first major role was in the television hit series Picket Fences. In this television series, she played the role of the character played by Tom Skerritt. Holly went to audition for the role and finally was offered to play the part after being told that she did not have the heart for the role. For her portrayal in the series, she was hailed by the Young Actor’s Award. Holly Marie Combs played the role of Tom Skerritt’s daughter for four years. Prior to Picket Fences, she was seen in several minor parts including, Born on the Fourth of July by Oliver Stone.

In 1992, she was seen in Chain of Desire and Simple Man. She was also in the film Dr. Giggles, playing the lead role, Jennifer Campbell, the daughter of the character of Cliff De Young and girlfriend of the character of Glenn Quinn.

As for her role in Charmed, Holly Marie Combs and her close friend Shannen Doherty went to audition together. She auditioned for the role of Prue Halliwel and Shannen auditioned for the role of Piper Halliwel. In the end, they both got accepted but the producers switched their parts. For the fifth season of Charmed, she and actress Alyssa Milano became the producers of the show. She was with the show from 1998 until its last season in May of 2006.

Holly Marie Combs was once married to Brian Smith and was once engaged to Storm Lydon. She is now married to Charmed key grip, David Donoho, her husband since Valentines of 2004. She and David have two sons named, Finley Arthur and Riley Edward.

Together with her husband and sons, Holly Marie Combs has acquired and adopted several animals including five dogs, four rabbits, three horses, three cats, two love birds and other animals who find their way in her home.
