Helena Bonham Carter Biography
Helenas mother was a well respected psychologist in England but was from a Jewish descent. The Spanish Eduardo Propper de Callejon, the former Minister Counsellor at the Washington D.C. Spanish Embassy was her maternal grandfather. Her maternal grandmother was the granddaughter of the industrialist Baron Gustav Springer. Helenas sister was the wife of Baron Elie de Rothschild.
Helena Bonham Carter grew up in England and graduated from the exclusive girls school, the South Hampstead High School. Then she attended the Westminster School after high school.
The Academy Award nominated actress is known for such films as Howards End, Fight Club and Room with a View. Her career in acting was launched 1979. Helena Bonham Carter joined and won a national writing contest and with the prize money she was able to pay her way to be in the Spotlight, the actors directory. At the age of 16, she landed a part in a commercial for television. This was her first professional acting performance. In 1983 she landed a small part in the movie for television, A Pattern of Roses. Then the following year she got the starring role in the film Lady Jane. The movie was release in 1986 and the critics gave mixed reviews.
In 1985, Helena Bonham Carter gave her remarkable performance in the film A Room with a View as Lucy Honeychurch, which was released in 1986. Then she also had a recurring part in the hit television series Miami Vice in the 1986 to 1987 season.
Helena Bonham Carters early roles typecast her as English rose. She landed roles typical of 20th century characters. This was particularly from producing outfit Merchant Ivory Films. Eventually though she landed different roles as seen in the films Fight Club and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. She also landed major roles in Tim Burtons films, such as Corpse Bride, Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Recently, Helenna Bonham Carter was seen in the latest Harry Potter movie, the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She played the role of dark witch Bellatrix Lestrange. For her performance as Belatrix, Helena got rave reviews from the critics.
