Gry Bay attended the University of Copenhagen where she earned her drama and music masters degree. Aside form her degree in music and drama, she also learned healing and mediumship, though from a different school.
The 90s saw Gry Bay in several musicals such as Grease, Crazy for You, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Me and My Girl. She also performed onstage at the Nørrebros Teater in Copenhagen, in the production of Michael Frayns Noises Off, playing the character of Brooke Ashton.
Gry Bay had her break in showbiz in 1996 in Dr. Monika Lindt - Kinderärztin, Geliebte, Mutter, the television series by the German network RTL. In the television series, the producers were pleased with her performance and with the audience response that she was given a recurring role. Then in 1998, she was seen in another German networks movie made for television, the Hosenflattern.
In Denmark, in 2002, Gry Bay landed her debut film role in the comedy film Slim Slam Slunk, internationally released as Joystick Nation. In this film she did not only showcased her acting skill but also her musical talent. Gry Bay composed many of the songs in the film Slim Slam Slunk. The following year, she was seen in the film Last Exit by David Noel Bourke.
Then in 2005, Gry Bay landed her most famous role so far, in the movie All About Anna. In this film by Zentropa and co-produced by famous producer Lars von Trier, she was awarded the Best Selling Scandinavian Star of 2006 from the Scandinavian Adult Award. Her role in the film was extremely challenging since it included many sexual acts, lesbian sex, cunnilingus, masturbation and even intercourse with two men.
Also in 2005, Gry Bay again was seen nude in the video of Homo Sapiens Sapiens by Pipiloti Rist. The video was shown at the 2005 Venice Film Festival and made her even more famous. Aside from these sexy appearances, she was seen in the film Betonhjerter, also in 2005. The following year, she was seen in Grønne hjerter.
As for her singing career, Gry Bay was the lead singer of Crisp and a member of Kid Creole and the Coconuts. From 2003 to 2006, she was consistently named as one of the Worlds 100 Sexiest Women in M, the Danish version of FHM.
