Ginnifer Goodwin was born Jennifer Michelle Goodwin on the 22nd of May 1978 in Memphis, Tennesee. Her mother was a FedEx worker and her father was an owner of a recording studio and they have long been divorced. With Melissa, her sister, she was raised in Utica, Mississippi.

Ginnifer Goodwin went to the URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp and was a member of the North American Federation of Temple Youth. She graduated from the Lausanne Collegiate School in 1996 and then went to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and in Theatre at the Boston University of the Arts. As a child, she was also very active in the Jewish Community and was active in the BBYO.

Ginnifer Goodwin first appeared in the hit series Law and Order by NBC. This lead to another appearance in another NBC series, Ed. Then she was next seen in Comedy Central’s movie made for television entitled Porn n’ Chicken. Producers noticed her good performance and soon she was offered several roles in the big screen. She landed a role in the movie Mona Lisa Smile, where she was seen with star Julia Roberts. Then Ginnifer was next seen in Win A Date with Tad Hamilton!

In 2005, Ginnifer Goodwin landed the role in the movie Walk the Line, the movie about Johnny Cash. In Walk the Line, she played the character of Vivian Liberto, the first wife of Johnny Cash. Next Ginnifer Goodwin was seen in the dark comedy movie, Love Comes to the Executioner.

In 2007, Ginnifer Goodwin returned to television in the series, Big Love. In this series by HBO, where she appeared on its second season, she played the role of Margene. For 2008, she is set to appear in The Laws of Motion and He’s Just Not That Into You.

From 2005 to 2007, Ginnifer Goodwyn's voice was heard in several episodes of Robot Chicken, such as Tapping a Hero episode, Drippy Ponny episode, Metal Militia episode, The Munnery episode, and Celebrity Rocket episode.

From 2006 to 2007, she was in 15 episodes of Big Love as Margene Heffman. In 2007, she reprised her role as Margene Heffman in the Meet the Babysitter and Morning Days episodes of Big Love: In the Beginning. That same year, she was also in Day Zero.
