At the age of eleven, her mother moved them to London. In London, Fairuza Balk attended an acting school and trained in ballet. Her training proved to be fruitful, for while in London, she was selected to be a part of the Wizard of Oz sequel, Return to Oz. Prior to that, she had landed the role in the movie made for television, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
Then in 1988, Fairuza Balk went to Paris then returned to finish her high school in Vancouver the following year. However, due to minor roles, she decided to finish high school through correspondence course. She was seen in the movie Gas Food Lodging, for which she was given the best actress award by the Independent Spirit Award.
Fauiruza Balk continued to appear in several minor roles until she laded the lead part in the movie, The Craft. In the movie she starred opposite Neve Campbell, Robing Tunney and Rachel True. Then in 1996m, she was seen opposite Edward Norton in the film American history X. She was also seen that year in the film, The Island of Dr. Moreau. In 1998, she starred opposite Adam Sandler in the comedy film, The Water Boy.
Aside from films she had lent her voice to the several animated films and video games, such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
Fairuza Balk lives in California and New York. Aside from acting she is passionate about writing, and writes poetry and literary fiction. She also plays the guitar and loves to dance and sing.
