Emily VanCamp was born Emily Irene VanCamp on the 12th of May 1986 in Port Perry, Ontario, Camada. She is most famous for her role in Everwood and in her current role in Brothers & Sisters. She grew up with her three sisters in Port Perry.

At a very young age, Emily VanCamp was already an avid dancer and convinced her mother that she deserved to study dancing. When she was eleven, her mother decided to apply her at the prestigious school L’ Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec. The school accepted her and there she studied ballet, tap and jazz.

Emily’s older sister appeared in a film. Emily decided that she should follow her sister’s footsteps. She asked her mother to find her an agent but her mother thought that she was not serious about it. She told Emily that if she was really serious about it, then she should find one herself. Emily found one. The agent helped her land two commercial jobs. Her acting career was getting in the way with her dancing and so she knew she needed to prioritize her career. Despite loving dancing since she was just a toddler, Emily chose acting.

Emily VanCamp left the prestigious dance school and started auditioning for roles. In 2000 she appeared in Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? This was followed by a role in the movie made for television, Jackie O: A Life Story. In 2001 she debuted in the big screen. She landed a role in the movie Lost & Delirious. It was an independent film and got good reviews at the Sundance Film Festival.
In 2002 she was one of the main casts in the television’s Glory Days by Kevin Williamson. She gained recognition for her role despite the show being pulled off the air after a few months. When the show was cancelled, Emily landed a part in Everwood. The creator of Everwood chose her for the part after seeing her in Glory Days. She then left Montreal and went and lived in Utah for the series.

She also appeared on several movies while appearing on Everwood. In 2004 Emily VanCamp appeared in A Different Loyalty opposite Sharon Stone. Then she was on the hit horror movie The Ring 2. In 2005 she was on Black Irish.

When Everwood ended Emily VanCamp moved to LA. In LA she appeared in Law & Order: SVU before landing her role as Rebecca Harper in Brothers & Sisters.
