Elizabeth Mitchell is an American actress born on March 27, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. When she was young, her family moved to Dallas, Texas, where she spent most of her growing up years. She went to the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Elizabeth Mitchell then continued her studies at Stephens College and graduated with a degree in fine arts and at the British American Drama Academy. She as well spent six years at the respected Dallas Theater Center as well as a year at the Theater’s Encore Company to hone her skills in the performing arts.

This hot and sexy siren first appeared in 1994 when she starred in the soap opera Loving. From that, this dynamic and talented actress was able to capture the attention of audiences with guest roles in shows such as the Cosby Mysteries, Dangerous Curves, The Sentinel, JAG, and Time of Your Life. Her capabilities on the big screen have been clearly exhibited through her performances in projects including Frequency, Nurse Betty, and the 2002 Christmas hit, Santa Clause 2. It was, however, her performance as the lover of deceased supermodel Gia Marie Carangi, alongside Angelina Jolie in the 1998 HBO critically praised TV movie Gia, where she solidified her place amongst the critics as a performer of great caliber, and someone 'to watch for’. Subsequently, she has continued to receive widespread acclaim and recognition in regular primetime roles, as Dr. Kimberly Legaspi for NBC's award winning series ER, Alice Allenby in ABC's The Beast, and as Ariel Saxon on NBC's The Lyon's Den. Her subsequent film credits include The Santa Clause 2 and 3 and Running Scared.

Her most recent TV work is in the hit series Lost, as Dr. Juliet Burke. Her role resulted to a 2007 Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Program

She is the oldest of three sisters, the others being Kristie, who is seven years younger, and Kate, who is twelve years younger. Elizabeth is married to actor Chris Soldevilla and together they have one son, Christopher Jr., born on 2005.

Elizabeth Mitchell once forgot a line in one of her earlier performances, and she recalls, ‘the nature of being an actress is to be fallible, to be vulnerable. We're all the nerds of our world, aren't we? I was a complete, total nerd. ...I loved the idea that the underdog wins more often than not. And I don't know if that happens in life. But I want it to.’
