In 1980, Elizabeth Hurley joined and won a Face of the Year competition, where she gained recognition and successfully securing a modeling contract with a London modeling firm as grand prize. Seven years later, she appeared in her film debut in the 1987 film, Aria. However, it was in her role in the TV drama Christabel that gave her media attention.
Elizabeth Hurley appeared in a few low-budget Hollywood and British films, including Passenger 57, Rumpole of the Bailey and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. In 1987, Elizabeth Hurley worked on a Spanish production entitled, Remando Al Viento co-starring Hugh Grant, which ignited a long-term romantic relationship.
In 1994, Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley attended the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, wherein she wore a black plunging Versace dress that held together with gold safety pins. Hurleys dress became a part of history in the modeling world. Popular media referred to Elizabeth Hurleys attire as simply that dress. She was noticed by the cosmetics giant Estee Lauder and began to work as their spokesperson by 1995. She renewed her contract with the company in 2007 for the 13th year.
Aside from modeling, Elizabeth Hurley was cast alongside Mike Myers in the 1997 spy comedy, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. She reprised her role as Vanessa in the 1999 sequel, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. She also starred in several other films, such as EdTV, Double Whammy, Bedazzled, Serving Sara and her latest film, Method.
After a 13-year relationship with Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Hurley separated with Grant in 2000. In October of 2000, she began a relationship with multi-millionaire producer Stephen Bing. Although the couple separated, Elizabeth Hurley revealed that she was pregnant with Bings child. Bing questioned the paternity publicly and disputed Hurleys faithful relationship. On April 4, 2002, she gave birth to a son named Damian Charles Hurley and conducted a DNA test that proved Bing was the father of the child.
On March 2, 2007, Elizabeth Hurley married Indian businessman Arun Nayar in a secret ceremony at Gloucestershire. The festivities continued in India where the couple celebrated a Hindu marriage.
