Denise Crosby is an American actress born on November 24, 1957 in Hollywood, California. Her grandfather was the legendary crooner Bing Crosby while her father is actor Dennis Crosby. At an early age she was able to unravel her passion for acting, as she was greatly influenced by her family members. She is probably best known for her role as Security Chief Tasha Yar on the popular sci-fi series, Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was the one who created the said character for the show.

Aside from Star Trek, Denise Crosby has also been in other notable recurring roles for TV shows such as Fox’s Key West wherein she starred alongside Jennifer Tilly and Fisher Stevens, NYPD Blue, Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman and The X-Files. She as well made guest appearances in other TV series, a few of which being Eyes, Crossing Jordan, Threat Matrix, The Agency, and Judging Amy.

Denise Crosby made her film debut in the movie 48 Hours. She as well co-starred in Stephen King’s classic horror flick, Pet Sematary, and from then on she moved to doing The Man Who Loved Women with her future ex-father-in-law Blake Edwards, and Skin Deep with the late John Ritter. Denise Crosby has as well worked with notable director Quentin Tarantino in Jackie Brown and Mimi Leder in Deep Impact. At the same time, she became active in doing independent films such as Miracle Mile and The Red Shoe Diaries. Her most recent independent work was the movie Mortuary, directed by legenadary director Tobe Hooper.

Critical acclaim was bestowed on Denise Crosby in her performance in Last Summer At Bluefish Cove. Directed by Dorothy Lyman, this film earned Denise Crosby an Ovation nomination for Best Actress. She as well became involved in numerous plays including the role of Tamara de Lempicka in Tamara, as well as Richard Dreyfuss’s theatrical directing debut, Stops Along the Way. She then pursued work at the back of the camera as a producer in the feature documentary Trekkies which was directed by Roger Nygard. They eventually worked on its sequel, Trekkies 2, which is now out on Paramount Home Video.

Denise Crosby was once married to Geoffrey Edwards from 1983 to 1990. She is now married to Ken Sylk whom she has one son, August William Sylk.
