She was born as Deborah Mazar on August 13, 1964 in Queens, New York to parents Harry and Nancy Mazar. Debi Mazar was always thought to be of an Italian descent because of her looks but it was not true. When she was 12 years old, her father left them and her mother remarried after several years. At the age of 15, she started to live by herself and took up acting lessons in 1985.

This 5’5’ debonair started to take jobs to survive as a jeans salesgirl, a dental assistant and a make-up artist. Under the name Debi M, she worked as Madonna’s make-up artist before she got the chance to appear in the Martin Scorsese's film GoodFellas in 1990 where she played the role of Ray Liotta’s coke-snorting girlfriend. Debi Mazar's TV debut was in 1991 when she played the role of Denise Iannello’s regular secretary in ABC Channel’s Civil Wars. She is also the voice behind the character of Maria Latore in Grand Theft Auto, the very popular game series.

Debi Mazar has appeared in several independent films and music videos which include Madonna’s Papa Don’t Preach, True Blue, Deeper and Deeper and Music. She and Madonna were once close friends. She got her first lead role in the movie Money for Nothing.

Debi Mazar’s other film credits are Jungle Fever (1991) which marked her first team up with Spike Lee, Lee's biopic Malcolm X (1992) where she played a feature role, Things I Never Told You (1996) where she played the role of a transsexual, The Tuxedo (2002) where she co-starred with superstars Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt, and several other films. Some of her TV credits include LA Laws (1993) where she joind the cast and reprised her role as Denise, CBS’ Temporarily Yours (1997) where she played the lead, NBC’s Working (1998), CBS’ That’s Life (2000) where she played the role of a hairdresser the show’s leads best friend.

Debi Mazar briefly dated the famed actor Michael Badalucco before she married her present husband. Her marriage to jazz musician/producer Gabriele Corcos, whom she met through a mutual friend, produced two offspring. They were solemnized by fellow actress Ellen Bustyn who was also an ordained Sufi Priestess. She, her husband and their two daughters have homes both in Los Angeles and Tuscany.

Their first daughter was born on July 12, 2002 and they named her named Evelina Maria Mazar-Corcos. On the other hand, their second daughter Giulia Isabel Mazar-Corcos was born on May 17, 2006. They are an English-Italian speaking family.
