As Winnie Cooper, Danica McKellar became Kevins (Fred Savage) main object of affection. In the shows final episode, it was depicted that almost every important event that happened in Kevins life involved her. After being on the Emmy-award winning show which ran from 1988 to 1993, Danica McKellar then moved on to making guest appearances on various television shows including one with her former co-star Fred Savage. She describes her transition from being a child actor to and adult actor was a little bumpy, mainly because television audiences have known her as a young star. During this transition, Danica McKellar wrote and directed two short films. In 2002, she made a comeback with a recurring role in The West Wing playing the role of Elsie Snuffin, sister and assistant of Deputy White house Communications Director Will Bailey.
In July 2005, Danica McKellar appeared as a sexy cover girl wearing only lingerie for Stuff Magazine.
In June 2006, Danica McKellar was reported to star in the Lifetime movie, Inspector Mom, a web-based series about a mother who likes solving mysteries. On August 2007, she announced that the executives of the show How I Met Your Mother were considering having her back for a recurring role. She made a guest appearance on the show back in 2005.
Danica McKellar graduated summa cum laude with a degree in mathematics at the UCLA in 1998. She, along with Professor Lincoln Chayes and student Brandy Winn, wrote a scientific paper proving a theorem in mathematical physics known as the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem. She was as well as sister in the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Because of her love for mathematics, Danica McKellar wrote the book Math Doesnt Suck: How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail. The book aims to help middle school students to appreciate and succeed in mathematics.
