Dana Delany was born on March 13, 1956 in New York City. She spent her growing up years in Connecticut, and afterwards studied at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Maryland, then at Wesleyan University. She began her acting career in 1979 with a role in the television series Love of Life. This was followed by a performance in the Broadway production of A Life in 1980, and then she went back to television with the soap opera As the World Turns. Hollywood welcomed Dana Delany after her role in the controversial play Bloodmoon, and soon after she made guest appearances in popular primetime shows such as Moonlighting and Magnum P.I.

What made this prolific actress endeared to the audiences was the series China Beach, in which she stayed from 1988 t o 1991. Dana Delany’s role as Collen McMurphy won her two Emmy Awards, two other Emmy nominations as well as two Golden Globe nominations. More film offers came in her way, and soon after Dana Delany was seen in movies such as Housesitter, Light Sleeper, Tombstone, and Fly Away Home.

A daring actress ready to go beyond her limits, Dana Delany took on controversial roles including the TV movie Choices of the Heart as Margaret Sanger, Exit to Eden as Mistress Lisa, and in an episode of the series Family Law playing the role of a gun-owning mother. She also provided the voice of Andrea Beaumont in the 1993 animated movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm as well as Lois Lane in the animated version of Superman until 2005.

Among Dana Delany’s other television credits include Pasadena, and Presidio Med, as well as TV movies such as True Women, A Time to Remember, Resurrection, and Baby for Sale. She also appeared in feature films like The Outfitters, Mother Ghost, and Spin.

During this time, when she was not found on film or TV, Dana Delany was busy on stage, in which she starred in plays such as Translations, Dinner With Friends, and Much Ado About Nothing.

Dana Delany then went back on television from 2004 to 2006, making guest appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Kojak, Boston Legal, Related, Battlestar Galactica, and The L Word. She also starred in the TV series Kidnapped in 2006.

She has recently been part of the cast of Desperate Housewives and is currently seen on the show’s 2007-2008 season.
