Charlotte Nilsson is a Swedish singer born on October 7, 1974 in Hovmantorp, Sweden. She gained widespread fame upon winning in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 with the song Take Me To Your Heaven.

Her singing prowess already shone at an early age when she joined a local band at the age of 13. After graduating from compulsory school Charlotte Nilsson moved to Växjö and studied at the High School of Performing Arts. During this time she became the vocalist of the band Kendix, and in 1994 she participated with the well known Anders Engbergs Orkester.

After releasing two albums with the band, Charlotte Nilsson left the group and joined the more successful Wizex, where she was able to explore her limits and develop her talents as a total performer. She then sang in bigger venues wherein she became recognized by audiences. In 1998, Wizex gained success with their album Mot Nya Mål and Tusen och En Natt. After hitting the charts, earning a Swedish Grammy nomination and album sales reaching gold, Charlotte Nilsson went to go solo.

In 1999, this sultry singer was selected as Sweden’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, and after which she went to Jerusalem to fight with her song Take Me To Your Heaven. She bagged the gold in the said match, and thus became one of Sweden’s as well as Europe’s most wanted singers. Charlotte Nilsson then released her self-titled solo album and was eventually voted as Sweden’s sexiest woman by Café magazine.

Charlotte Nilsson released her sophomore album in 2001, which featured the single You Got Me Going Crazy. She also hosted the first semifinal match of Melodifestivalen 2003 alongside Mark Levengood and Lena Philipsson. She participated in the 2003 production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and subsequently released another single, Broken Heart and a new album entitled Gone Too Long.

Because of her successful stint as the host of Melodifestivalen 2003, Charlotte Nilsson once again appeared to grace the Melodifestivalen 2004. Afterwards, she then moved on to host her own show, Super Troupers, which became a kids’ talent show.

Charlotte Nilsson has been busy working as a singer, a vocals expert, a host, as well as a judge for different singing competitions in and around Sweden. In October 2007, it was confirmed that she will be performing at the Melodifestivalen 2008.

Charlotte Nilsson now lives with her husband and two sons in Stockholm, Sweden.
