Actress and model Carre Otis, real name and nickname, was born on September 28, 1968 in San Francisco, California. Carre Otis attended Marin Academy in Rafael, California and the John Woolman School in Nevada City, California. Her claim to fame was her starring role as Emily in a romance drama film “Wild Orchid” in 1990, which got her a nomination in Razzie Award in the Worst New Star category. She is a staunch follower of Buddhism and never had a good relationship with men.

Carre Otis modeled at home for a year before moving to New York City at the age of fifteen to pursue a modeling career. She appeared on the cover of the French version of Elle Magazine in 1996 at the age of 18. This break allowed the world to see the brown-haired, green/blue-eyed beauty, Carre Otis. She was discovered by the president and creative director of Guess, Paul Marciano in the early 90’s.

This modeling break gives Carre Otis the chance to work with famous photographers Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts. She also modeled for Calvin Klein and made famous the biker chick look, which everyone remembered about her. Her other works would include cover shots for New Women, Gear, and San Francisco magazines.

Pirelli Calendar also featured Carre Otis in 1996 in their project honoring the most beautiful women. Otis paused in this calendar issue together with Laetitia Casta. This brown hair, greenish blue eyed model, together with Daniel Pestova and Heidi Klum., also appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Millennium Edition.

Carre Otis’ biggest film break was her role as Emily in the romance drama film in 1990, Wild Orchid. It’s here where she would meet her husband for two years, Hollywood bad boy, Mickey Rourke. She also starred in Exit in Red, and Simon Says. Carre Otis was briefly cause celebre following the release of Wild Orchid because of the rumors that she and lover turn husband Mickey Rourke filmed an unsimulated sex scene.

All the while as Carre Otis continued with her carrier, she was also struggling with anorexia, drug addiction, and other health issues like heart seizures. Carre Otis managed to turn her anorexia into something positive for everybody when she became a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorder Awareness Week in 2003. After Otis have overcome her bad eating habit, she gain weight but still feel good about her self. She has now become active plus size model in the runways of Europe.
