Canadian actress and stand up comedy star Caroline Gilchrist Rhea was born on April 13, 1964 in Montreal Quebec, Canada to an American father David Rhea and Canadian mother Margery. She has two siblings; Cynthia and Celia. Rhea attended an all-girls school The Study in Quebec where she learned fluent English and French.

In 1986, Caroline Rhea moved to New York to study stand-up comedy at the New School for Social Research. It was her performance at the club Catch a Rising Star that launched her to stardom. Caroline Rhea quickly gained reputation in the comedy scene and she started to segue in scripted television program like Comic Strip Live and Caroline’s Comedy Hour.

To extend her career, Caroline Rhea decided to live in Los Angeles to find a place in Hollywood. Her debut performance was in TV series Pride & Joy. She is popularly known as “Aunt Hilda” in the series Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Caroline Rhea is also a regular on the show Hollywood Squares with Whoopi Goldberg and was part of The Drew Carrey Show.

In 2002, Caroline Rhea’s biggest break was the launch of her talk show The Caroline Rhea Show as replacement of Rosie O’Donnell. However, her show folded less than a year after its premier. With a strong foundation in stand-up comedy, Rhea’s bookings across the U.S. And Canada continues to soar and she even appears in small roles in many comedy movies.

Caroline Rhea played Candi in Tim Allen’s Christmas with the Kranks (2004) and 2005’s The Perfect Man. In the autumn of 2004, Rhea was able to hosts the first weight loss reality show, The Biggest Loser. Her show was so popular that it was aired in around 70 countries making Caroline Rhea a phenomenon. Ratings on her show were so high that it stayed for three seasons.

In February 2007, NBC announced that Caroline Rhea would no longer hosts the series The Biggest Loser due to her returning to stand-up comedy which is her first love. Rhea starred in the show Comic Relief. Furthermore, she had her own stand-up special as part of the three-part Funny Ladies series with Joan Rivers and Paula Poundstone.

In Disney Channel series, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Caroline Rhea played the part of an inspector manager of the rival hotel noted for her large mole on her check. At present, she does the voice of Mom in the animated series Phineas and Ferb. Rhea will next be seen in the upcoming FOX animated series Two Dreadful Children.
