Born Cameron Michelle Diaz on August 30, 1972 in San Diego California, she is a second-generation Cuban-American with English, German and Native American ancestry. She attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

At age 16, Cameron Diaz started her career as a fashion model, signing up with top modeling agency Elite Model Management. After completing high school, she transferred to Japan for a modeling job, where she met director Carlo de la Torre and moved in with him when they returned to America. During the 1990s, Cameron Diaz enjoyed a career in modeling and traveling around the world as she worked for major companies like Levi’s and Calvin Klein.

The first on-screen appeared of 21-year-old Cameron Diaz was on the film, The Mask, where she played the lead role alongside Jim Carrey. In the following years, she appeared in several low-budget independent films, including Feeling Minnesota, The Last Supper and She’s the One. However, Cameron Diaz regained her mainstream success when she played in My Best Friend’s Wedding and There’s Something About Mary. It was in the film Being John Malkovich that Cameron Diaz snagged a Best Supporting Actress nominations at the Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards.

Between 199 and 2000, Cameron Diaz was seen in films such as Any Given Sunday, A Life Less Ordinary and Things You Can Tell. However, when Cameron Diaz won the part as one of Charlie’s Angels, she became a huge celebrity. She also played alongside Tom Cruise in the critically acclaimed, Vanilla Sky, where she won nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the AFI, SAG and Golden Globe Awards.

In 2002, Cameron Diaz gave her voice to Princess Fiona in the comedy animation film, Shrek, which earned her a whopping $10 million. However, when she played in Martin Scorsese’s epic, Gangs of New York, alongside huge actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel-Day Lewis, she received another Golden Globe nomination

Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui and Cameron Diaz reunited in the sequel of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, where Diaz received $20-million paycheck. She lent her voice again to Shrek 2 and appeared in The Holiday and In Her Shoes.

Between 1995 and 1998, Cameron Diaz dated actor Matt Dillon. She became engaged to Jared Leto during a 1998 to 2002 relationship. More recently, she dated musician Justin Timberlake but broke up in early 2007.
